Hello! My name is Jennifer Garrison and some people know me by the screen name PixTrix at a sugar glider message board for a long time.
I am a proud mother of three beautiful, intelligent daughters who are now in college. I am an avid seamstress, as I caught a sewing "bug" when I was in 6th grade.
I fell in love with Sugar Gliders back in 1997. Because of our lifestyle at the time, I did not get Sugar Gliders.
Four years later, on Sept. 7, 2001, I came across a sweet little girl who I named Pixie at a local pet store. Two weeks later I got Pixie a friend named Trixie. Three months later I acquired a little boy who I named Bullet, got him neutered, and introduction of Bullet to Pixie and Trixie went well after weeks of pouch-swapping.
Four months later, there was an alert about a family of 4 Sugar Gliders, a 5-year-old dad who I named Harley, a 5-year-old mom with a single joey in-pouch (IP) named Angel, and their 1-year-old daughter named Dixie, at a humane society in Madison, WI. Ten days after bringing the rescues home, Angel's joey, Levi, came out of pouch (OOP). Levi was my first joey and oh, how I loved him so very much! Unfortunately, due to extreme malnourishment and stress imposed on the family, especially Angel and her then-IP joey, Levi did not make it past 4 weeks OOP. Levi was the size of a 2 to 2 1/2 week OOP joey when he crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I took it really hard. That was when I knew I would enjoy loving on my gliders' joeys.
Each passing day is precious and I always get emotional when my babies go to their new homes.
